GO FOR INTRAMS, RAIN OR SHINE

The abrupt weather changes did not stop Aemilianum College to go on to celebrate its annual Intramurals and Foundation Day, last September 24-27, 2012, with this year’s theme, “Breaking Free, Soaring High.”

Although weather disturbances complemented with the entire duration of the event, it didn’t hinder the athletic Aemilians to go for gold and pursue the foretold celebration.

First day, September 24, a holy mass was presided by the school director, Rev. Fr. Romel Ermita, CRS with Rev. Fr. Bob Sabayton, CRS. This was immediately followed by the opening program and the formal opening of Intramurals. In the afternoon, the prestigious search for this year’s Mr. & Ms. ACI and Mr. & Ms. Intrams was also held.

September 25, day two, a prompt parade was organized that paced downtown. Next to it was the first-ever kite flying competition in relevance with this year’s theme. The afternoon signated the beginning of playing each sports games. Lots of players tried bringing home the bacon. The games include: Volleyball, soccer (both boys and girls division); Badminton (singles and doubles); sepak takraw, chess and basketball. It lasted up to September 27 where everybody was surprisingly able to sustain their energies throughout.

After all the herculean fight, Team D (Seniors) was declared as the overall champion, followed by Team C (Juniors), Team B (Sophomores) & Team A (Freshmen) respectively. On September 28, the awarding as well as the Victory Ball embraced the weary but happy spirits of the Aemilians.
The blessing of the statue of St. Jerome, school’s patron saint, also served as one of the event’s highlights.
